  • is an umbrella organization for music schools and conservatories with 100 members all over Finland
  • promotes high professional and artistic standards in the member schools and does PR work in their behalf 
  • looks after the interests of its member schools and makes sure they are reflected in music policy and general cultural policy on the national level
  • is responsible for the formulation and distribution of examination standards
  • administrates and promotes international relations in the field of music through its membership in the EMU (European Union of Music Schools), NMKU (Nordic Union of Music and Culture Schools) and ISME-Finland ( the International Society for Music Education)
  • is founded in 1956
