3. Protection of music schools' interests looks after the interests of its member schools

participates in public debate on music education, panels and seminars

follows the debate and decision making in the Finnish Parliament and its committees about music school funding, and lobbies the Parliament

in unison with the professional music institutes, the Association of Finnish Conservatories and other interested parties, develops the music education system on a broad front

nominates representatives to committees and working parties

with the authorisation of the member schools, negotiates the copyright agreements applied to music schools with Teosto, the Finnish composers'copyright society


4. Communications and public relations

promotes high professional and artistic standards in the member schools and does PR work in their behalf

- create an efficient, first-class information network capable of serving the specific needs of music schools
- develop further the work of music schools;

- increase communication by and between the music schools;
- create databases which will facilitate the work of music schools;
- help to produce the material needed in music instruction;
- establish links to other interested parties and information sources;
- create an international framework and a Europe-wide information network for music schools.

7. Other services

provides expert assistance and advice

on request, sends a representative to member school celebrations to bestow medals and certificates of recognition on individuals with a long history of service.
